Termite Control & Management | Utah

Subterranean Termites Are By Far, The Most Common Termites In Utah

Several subterranean species are native to Utah, but their biology and activity are essentially the same.

Signs of termite infestations are very difficult to spot.  Termites can tunnel hundreds of feet to reach a desired feeding spot.  As termites feed on the wood and other cellulose-based materials in your home or building, they can seriously weaken the structure.  Termites, if left untreated over a long period of time can cause you’re home or commercial property to become structurally unstable.

Even properties built primarily of brick or stone are susceptible to termite Infestations. Wood and other cellulose-based materials are abundant in every home, including those built of brick and stone.  It makes very little difference how your home or building is constructed or the type of foundation, termites (if present) can find a way in your home and make it their feeding ground.  It is estimated that Termites cause more than $5 billion annually in damage across the United States – more than tornadoes, hurricanes, and fires combined.

Even cold weather offers no protection as termites are found as far north as Canada.  In fact, cold weather only makes termites burrow deeper into the warmth of your home or building.  As you can see from the map, termites are present in all areas of the United States.

Subterranean termites are one of the most damaging types of termites and live in colonies in the soil. Each colony is built around a king and queen, whose sole purpose is reproduction.  Most of the termites that comprise the colony are worker termites – it’s the worker termites that cause all the damage.  Worker termites search for food sources and share their findings with others in the colony.  They are busy at work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, attacking the structure of your home or commercial property.
